Meet Carly!

Therapy Intern

Hi there! I am a clinical mental health counseling intern who serves individuals, couples, and families of all ages and backgrounds. I am in my final semester of graduate school and, under supervision, have been counseling in Summit and Eagle counties since August of 2021. I work with those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, substance use, and more.

As an avid outdoor woman, my passion lies in the combination of nature, movement, and mental health treatment, a practice commonly known as eco-therapy. At Grit, I offer walk-and-talk sessions, as well as trail running/biking/and skiing sessions. Research has shown, and I firmly believe, that reconnecting our minds and bodies with nature is a powerful way to regulate and heal.

My therapeutic approach is person-centered and focuses on the individual needs of each client. I work to create a safe and empathetic space to foster a genuine therapeutic relationship - a place where I believe real change is made. I also incorporate mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) into my practice.

I am originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, but headed west and rooted in Colorado in 2014 and never looked back! I currently live in Silverthorne and enjoy trail running, skiing, biking, and reading! In addition to working at Grit, I teach yoga at a local studio in Summit County and lead summer road biking trips in Croatia.

What is a master's level counseling intern?

A master's level counseling intern is someone who is in their last year of training in their counseling master's program. They have completed all or most of their course work, and have experience working as a therapist in the community.

An intern is supervised by a licensed clinician with years of experience who oversees their work in the practice and helps them offer the best treatment to their clients. Interns are in touch with the leading edge of research in the industry and bring the latest treatment options to therapy.

We only work with interns who bring a wealth of personal, lived experience to the table so we know they can best serve our clients.
